Snell's Covid Policy
revised 6/15/21
COVID-19 Policies
Guidelines for Snell’s Pre-Kindergarten *
Classrooms:
- Social distancing is encouraged. We provide more opportunities for individual play activities such as drawing, puzzles, and individual sensory play.
- Cleaning protocols: We clean and disinfect tables and sanitize hard surfaces. Restrooms are cleaned throughout the day. Toys and manipulatives are sanitized daily. Classrooms are cleaned daily and deep cleaned weekly.
- Safety procedures: Frequent handwashing is done by staff and children. Masks are worn by staff daily. Staff and children will be screened prior to entry for fever and obvious signs of illness. Hand sanitizer will be available at facility entrances and/or outside each classroom.
- Nap time: Napping mats will be spaced at least 3 feet apart (6 feet if space allows) and alternated head/toe to lessen the spread of germs from coughing or sneezing. Napping mats will be sanitized daily. No pillows or stuffed animals please.
Drop off and Pick up Procedure: Must Download PROCARE application
- Drop off and Pick up Outside Only: Drop off will occur at the front and back entrances. Children and staff only are allowed inside the facility at this time. A staff member will greet each family and perform a wellness check on each child. The child will be inspected for obvious signs of illness and the family will be asked if anyone in the home has experienced or is experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms. Touchless sign-in is encouraged (requires a camera scanner app) using parent’s mobile device. (For those who do not have a mobile device capable of scanning, a sign-in sheet is located at a table outside each classroom entrance.) Each child must be signed in and out each day. If dropping off after 9:00 am please call the office and a staff member will take your child to the appropriate classroom.
Illness and Health and Safety Procedures:
- We ask that families self-screen their child and themselves for signs of illness prior to arriving at the facility. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD TO THE FACILITY if your child displays any signs of illness such as fever, cough, severe runny nose, eye redness and discharge, etc. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 F or higher will not be allowed entry.
- Staff must be notified if a child has been given a fever reducing medication in the last 24 hours. The child will not be allowed entry until 24 hours has passed since administering the medication. If the child or a family member the child resides with has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 they must self-quarantine for 14 days before returning to the facility. If the child or a member of the child’s family with whom the child has contact tests positive for COVID-19, we must be notified immediately. The child will not be allowed to return until it is deemed safe to do so. Staff retains the right to refuse entry to any child displaying obvious signs of illness, which include but are not limited to, fever, unexplained rashes, cough, severe runny nose, eye redness or discharge, or extreme fatigue.
- Signs of illness while at the facility: If a child exhibits any signs of illness listed above the child will be isolated from his/her peers in the designated area for isolation. The child’s parents/emergency contacts will be called to pick up the child. The child must be picked up within one hour. Please ensure that those listed as emergency contacts are available in the event of a suspected illness. Failure to pick up an ill child in a timely manner will lead to a temporary suspension or termination of services. Staff members that exhibit any signs of illness will be isolated and removed from the facility within one hour.
